INTRODUCTION

The reformation brought in the field of nursing by Florence Nightingale had resulted in a change in the outlook of nursing in India. A need was felt for professional nursing care for the British troops, which led to the establishment of Army Nursing Services in 1881 in Britain, subsequently, the Military Nursing Service in India started in March 1888, when the first batch of British Army Nurses arrived in India to serve in the hospitals for British troops. The nursing service was designated the Indian Army Nursing Service (IANS) in 1896. In 1902, Queen Alexandra became the first president of the British Army Nursing Service in United Kingdom and a year later IANS was converted into Queen Alexandra’s Military Nursing for India (QAMNS).

During the First World War, dire need of nursing care for Indian soldiers was recognized and a Temporary Indian Nursing Service (TINS) was started in 1914. Indian Military Nursing Service

On 1st October 1926, it was decided to have a permanent nursing service in the Indian Army and the nursing service for Indian troop hospitals came into being with a total number of 55 nurses. In 1927, the designation of the Nursing Service for Indian troop hospital was changed to Indian Military Nursing Service .With the outbreak of World war II in 1939, 313 nurses were sanctioned for the nursing services for the British Army stationed in India, including 55 nurses of the Indian Military Nursing Service.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have Passed 102 OR equivalent Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology) and English with not less than 50% aggregate marks.

NEET (UG) 2024 Score

Candidate seeking admission for BSc Nursing course at AFMS institutions will have to mandatorily qualify the NEET (UG) 2024 examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

Age Limits

Should be born between 01 October 1999 and 30 September 2007 (Both dates inclusive).

Physical Standard

  1. The minimum acceptable Height for Candidates is 152 cms with correlated weight.
  2. In case of North East Candidates it will be relaxed by 4 cm. Required 148 CM.

Selection Procedure

  1. Short listing through NEET (UG) 2024 Score:- Candidate seeking admission for BSc Nursing course at AFMS institutions will have to mandatorily qualify the NEET (UG) 2024 examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).
  2. Test of General Intelligence & General English:- Candidates have to qualify a Test of General Intelligence & General English (ToGIGE) that will be in the form of Computer Based Test (CBT). This test consist 40 Question having 2 marks for each for maximum marks 80. There will be negative marks 0.5 for every incorrect answer.
  3. Psychological Assessment Test (PAT):- This is a qualifying examination and score will not be considered for preparing final merit list.
  4. Interview:- Candidates as per merit on the basis of written test will be called for interview.
  5. Final Merit List:- The Final selection of Candidates will be based on combined merit of written test & interview, subject to medical fitness.
  6. Medical Examination:- Candidates who have cleared stage I and stage Il of Written Test & interview will be followed by a medical examination.
