BHU Schools

Having their roots in the Central Hindu College established by Dr. Annie Besant in 1898, the Central Hindu Boysā€™ School and Central Hindu Girlsā€™ School are housed in monumental buildings situated at Kamachha in the heart of Varanasi city. Affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, these schools have a glorious history of providing excellent education in Arts, Commerce, Home Science, Science and Agriculture streams along with ample sports and extra-co-curricular activities to ensure all round personality development of both boys & girls. Both schools have well equipped laboratories for providing skill based training in almost all practical subjects. In addition, the schools provide NCC training to boys in the Army and Air Wings and NCC training to girls in the Army Wings. Being a part of Banaras Hindu University, the students of the schools enjoy many facilities that are available to the university students in general. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS For Class IX & Xi:

For class IX : 13 Years to 15 years of age as on 31.03.2025 i.e. date of birth should not be before 31.03.2009 and after 31.03.2011 and have passed class VIII examination from a recognised school.

For class XI : 18 Years of maximum age as on 31.03.2025 i.e. date of birth should not be before 31.03.2006 and have passed class X examination from a recognized Board/University with the required percentage of marks/grades as under noted:

For external candidates (coming through SET):

(i) 60% marks or equivalent grades and above in class X in aggregate for admission in Maths & Biology Stream. Further 50% marks or equivalent grade and above is essential in each subject of Maths and Science.
(ii) 55% marks or equivalent grades and above in class X in aggregate for Commerce Stream.
(iii) Class X passed for Arts stream.
In addition to the above a candidate (excluding SC/ST/DIVYANG (OH)) shall be eligible for admission to the above classes only if he/she gets a minimum of 33% of marks in the School Entrance Test. These criteria will also apply in case of the sons and daughters of the BHU employees and candidates belonging to SC/ST/ DIVYANG (OH) will be eligible for admission on securing a minimum of 25% of marks in SET.

ii. In CHBS there is also a provision of 05 seats in each section of class XI only on the basis of merit after the cut off list of merit under the Paid Seat Category. (Maths Group- 20 seats, Biology Group10 seats, Arts Group- 5 seats, Commerce Group- 5 seats,)
iii. However, availability of number of seats for external candidates in both the schools in addition to the above will depend upon the availability of seats after the admission of internal candidates.

RESERVATIONS for class IX and XI:

AThe following reservations will be given for admission against the seats available# in various classes after the admission of internal students:-

  • 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
  • 7.5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates.
  • 27% seats are reserved for Other Backward Class- Non Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) candidates.
  • 10% seats are reserved for Economically Weaker Section (EWS) candidates.
  • The SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS candidates are required to produce original certificate, self-attested photocopies of their respective caste/category certificates at the time of counseling/admission from any one of the following authorities stating that the candidate belongs to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS category. In case of non-availability of original certificates at the time of admission, their candidature will be cancelled.
  1. District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/Deputy Commissioner/Addl. Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/ City Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner.
  2. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.
  3. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
  4. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.
  5. Administrator/Secretary to the Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep Islands).

Candidates must note that certificate issued by any other person/authority shall not be accepted in any case. If the candidate happens to belong to SC/ST/OBC-NCL, his/her caste/tribe must be listed in the appropriate Govt. of India Schedule. The Caste Certificate should clearly state: (a) Name of his/her caste/tribe (b) Whether he/she belongs to SC/ST/OBC-NCL or not (c) District and the State or Union Territory of his/her usual place of residence and (d) The appropriate Govt. of India Schedule under which his/her caste/tribe is approved as SC/ST/OBC-NCL.

However, if an SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidate seeks admission under some other category (for example: Divyang/BHU Employee Ward etc.) the candidate should satisfy the minimum eligibility requirement for that category.

  • 3% seats are horizontally reserved for Divyang (OH) candidates with 40% and above Disability.
  • The Divyang (OH) candidates are required to submit the Divyang Certificate (in original) and attested Photocopy issued by the Chief Medical Officer or Civil Surgeon of the district of the residence of the candidate at the time of counselling.
  • These candidates shall be allowed provisional admission and their admission shall be confirmed only after they have appeared before the Medical Board for Divyang constituted by Banaras Hindu University and their eligibility in this category is duly certified.
  • 50% seats are reserved for admission to Sons and Daughters of the Regular & Permanent Employees of Banaras Hindu University.
  • Benefit of Employee Ward Quota will also be extended to the sons and daughters of Contractual/Daily Wager Employees who are directly engaged by BHU provided the seats are vacant after the admission of sons and daughters of Regular and Permanent employees of BHU. For the same they have to submit the Contractual/Daily Wager Employee Certificate issued by concerned Head of the Department. At the time of filling the form for admission, the said contractual/Daily wager must be working in the university.
  • If the candidates are not available under Employee Ward Quota where 50% seats are reserved for sons and daughters of regular and permanent/contractual/daily wager employees of the University, then the left over seats will be converted for School Entrance Test candidates category wise.
  • The sons and daughters of regular and permanent employees of BHU shall have to submit the Employee Certificate from LTC Cell, BHU at the time of counseling/admission (except in the case of internal admission).
  • Benefit of Employee Ward Quota will also be extended to the sons and daughters of IIT-BHU employees who were appointed prior to May2012 on the basis of the Employee Certificate issued by the Office of the Registrar, IIT-BHU.
  • # The number of available seats depends on the internal/board examination results of the schools.

Sometimes seats may not be available or their number may be very few in a particular class for external students. This situation must be taken into consideration before applying for the admission.

GENERAL NOTES:

  1. Internal candidates appearing in examination of class X from CHBS and CHGS shall have the option to appear in SET as external candidates. They can avail both the facilities of external as well as internal candidates as per rule. To take admission as internal candidate in class XI for CHBS & CHGS students will have to fill separate form which will be made available from school counter.
  2. The regular students of CHBS and CHGS of Class X declared by CBSE to appear in Compartmental Examination are treated as regular students, if they pass the first Compartmental Examination of CBSE for the same session.
  3. Separate application forms are required to be submitted for different streams for Class XI, if a candidate wishes to apply for more than one stream.
  4. A candidate having NCC ā€œAā€ Certificate will be given additional 03 marks while preparing the Entrance Test result of class XI provided he/she has secured minimum qualifying marks in the Entrance Test.
  5. Applicants must fully satisfy themselves about their eligibility as prescribed above before filling in the application form. The eligibility shall be verified with the original certificates and marks sheets at the time of counseling/admission. The provisional admit card issued to a candidate entitles him/her to sit in the Entrance Test but mere appearance in the Entrance Test or securing pass marks in the Entrance Test does not entitle him/her to be considered for admission to a class unless he/she fulfills the eligibility conditions.
  6. The candidates are required to reach the test venue one hour before the commencement of the test.

METHOD OF SELECTION

(i) CLASS VI & CLASS IX: THROUGH E-LOTTERY.

  1. E-Lottery for BHU employee ward applicants will be drawn against 50% of the total seats which will further be categorized as 3% OH (horizontally), 7.5% ST, 27% OBC-NCL & Unreserved.
  2. Remaining seats will be allocated by e-lottery according to given priority sequence: -
    1. First Lot: 3% of the seats will be allocated to Differently Abled (Divyang (OH)) applicants (Horizontally).
    2. Second Lot:
      I. 7.5% of the seats will be allocated to ST candidates.
      II. 15% of the seats will be allocated to SC candidates.
      Note: Vacant SC seats can be filled by ST applicants and vice-versa.
      III. 27% of the seats will be allocated to OBC-NCL candidates.
    3. Third Lot: After Second Lot, remaining seats will be allocated to unreserved applicants.
  3. Waiting list of each Lot will be prepared.

(ii) CLASS XI: ON THE BASIS OF MERIT OF CLASS X

The admission in class XI will be made on the basis of percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in class X examination of the board and calculated as:

Merit (Percent marks obtained) = (Total marks obtained / Total maximum marks of Subjects) X 100 In Boards where marks obtained are given in terms of percentage, such as is CISCE, New Delhi, the merit may be calculated as:

Merit (Percent marks obtained) =āˆ‘ Percent marks of subjects / Number of subjects If two or more candidates are clubbed at the same merit on the basis of Class X marks then the inter se merit will be determined as given in Table 1.

NOTE: NO SEPARATE LETTER WILL BE SENT TO CALL STUDENTS FOR COUNSELLING. THE LOTTERY RANK/ MERIT LISTS SHALL BE DISPLAYED ON the ADMISSION PORTAL (www.bhu.ac.in). THE CANDIDATES ARE ADVISED TO SEE THEIR POSITION IN THE LOTTERY RANK/MERIT LISTS AND ENSURE THEIR APPEARANCE IN THE COUNSELLING WITH RELEVANT DOCUMENTS (ORIGINAL MARKSHEET, DATE OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE, PREVIOUS SCHOOL LEAVING CERTIFICATE, CATEGORY CERTIFICATE ETC. The University has created its Admission Portal with the domain name www.bhuonline.in. Its link is also available on the BHU website (www.bhu.ac.in). The entire process of making an application for admission in various courses during the academic session 2025-26 has been made ONLINE. Accordingly, candidates may note that School Admission 2025 Information Bulletin and Application Form will not be sold (as there will be no offline mode) and the candidates desirous of admissions shall be required to register on the Admission portal of BHU and fill up the application form ONLINE as per procedure provided on the Portal. MODE OF PAYMENT OF APPLICATION PROCESSING/TEST FEE:

Candidate is required to fill up the School Admission 2025 Application Form ONLINE as the printed Information Bulletin-cum-Application Form will not be sold by the University. After the candidate has filled up the application form online, he/she will have following option for payment of Application Processing Fee:
Online payment through credit card/ debit card through the payment gateway available on the Admission portal.

Note:
(i) The Application Form once submitted with the Application Processing/ Admission Fee at concessional rate meant for SC/ST candidate shall be considered under SC/ST Category.
(ii) The Application Processing/ Admission Fee paid shall neither be refunded nor transferred to another course and shall also not be reserved for any subsequent year, in any case.

NOTE
1. Contractual staff of B.H.U will be considered as BHU Employee Ward.
2. After the admission of the children of the regular employees of the B.H.U., the remaining vacant seats will be reserved for the children of the contractual employees of the University. Even after this, if any seat remains vacant, then non-BHU employee ward children will be selected on those seats.

III.Selection Process

  1. Admission of BHU employee ward applicants will be carried out first.
  2. First Lot: 3% of the seats will be allocated horizontally to Differently Abled (Divyang (PC)) applicants by lottery
  3. Remaining seats will be allocated by e-lottery according to given priority sequence: -
    1. Second Lot:
      1. Total no. of ST candidates will be calculated from First Lot and remaining seats reserved for ST candidates will be allocated.
      2. Total no. of SC candidates will be calculated from First Lot and remaining seats reserved for SC candidates will be allocated.
        Note: SC/ST seats will be filled only after interchanging the seat as per the availability of registered applicants i.e., vacant SC seats can be filled by ST applicants and vice-versa.
      3. Total no. of OBC-NCL candidates will be calculated from First Lot and remaining seats reserved for OBC-NCL candidates will be allocated
    2. Third Lot: After Second Lot, remaining seats will be allocated to unreserved applicants.
  4. Waiting list of each Lot will be prepared separately.

IV

The admission of selected candidates will be cancelled if any false/ foreign form is detected in the application of candidate even after the e-lottery process is completed or after submission the fee. Admission will also be cancelled if applicant does not produce the original certificates of the enclosures at the time of admission.

V

The admission of the selected candidate will be cancelled if he/she fails to submit the fee on the given date, following which the next candidate from the waiting list will be admitted in place of him/her.

VI

Candidate from waiting list cannot lay claim for admission. In case the seat remains vacant then the candidates from the waiting list be given admission as per serial number.

VII. Documents to submit at the time of Admission

  1. A photocopy of Date of Birth certificate, attested by father/mother/guardian and mentioning name of the applicant, issue by Nagar Nigam/copy of Kutumb Register is necessary to be enclosed along with the form. In case the invalid certificate, the form will be rejected.
  2. At the time of admission, all reserved applicants are required to submit original and attested photocopy of the certificate in their respective categories as mentioned in the filling form. In case of non-availability of certificates, their candidature will be cancelled. In doubtful cases, the certificate will be verified by a competent authority. In case it is found false/forged, the admission will be cancelled forthwith.
    1. If the father/mother of the candidate is a permanent/ contractual employee of BHU, an employee certificate mentioning name of the applicant, issued by LTC Cell/ Appropriate authority should be attached with the form.
    2. The physically challenged (Divyang) candidate has to produce original and a photocopy attested by father/mother/guardian of the certificate issued by the Chief Medical Officer or Civil Surgeon of the district of the residence of the candidate with the form. These candidates will be required to appear before the Medical Board appointed by Banaras Hindu University before their final admission.
    3. The SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates are required to produce original certificate and attested photocopy of their caste certificate at the time of admission from any one of the following authorities stating that the candidate belongs to a SC/ST/OBC-NCL category.
      1. District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/ Deputy Commissioner/Addl. Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Collector/1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/City Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Taluka Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/Extra Assistant Commissioner.
      2. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Addl. Chief Presidency Magistrate/Presidency Magistrate.
      3. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar.
      4. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or his family normally resides.
      5. Admistrator/Secretary to the Administrator/Development Officer (Lakshadweep islands).

Note: The caste in the SC/ST/OBC-NCL certificate will be those only which are in the list of Central Govt. Further the OBC-NCL certificate should clearly mention that the candidate is not under creamy layer. And SC/ST/OBC-NCL certificate should not be older than six months.

VIII. APPLICATION FORM

The University has created its Entrance Test Portal with the domain name www.bhuonline.in. Its link is also available on the BHU website (www.bhu.ac.in). The entire process of making an application for admission in various courses during the academic session 2022-23 has been made ONLINE. Accordingly, candidates may note that School Admission (LKG, Nursery & Class 1) 2022-23 Application Form will not be sold (as there will be no offline mode) and the candidates desirous of admissions shall be required to register on the Entrance Test portal of BHU and fill up the application form ONLINE as per procedure provided on the Portal. For further details visit the BHU website (www.bhu.ac.in) or the entrance test portal of BHU (www.bhuonline.in).

IX. APPLICATION PROCESSING FEE

Candidate shall pay the following Application Processing Fee:

  1. SC/ST: ā‚¹ 200.00
  2. General / OBC / Divyang (OH) / BHU Employee Ward: ā‚¹ 400.00
Candidate is required to fill up the Application Form ONLINE as printed Information Bulletin-cumApplication Form will not be sold by the University. After the candidate has filled up the application form online, he/she will have following options for payment of Application Processing Fee:

Online payment through credit card/debit card: Through the payment gateway available on the Entrance portal.

Note:
i. The Application Form once submitted with the Application Processing Fee at concessional rate meant for SC/ST candidate shall be considered under SC/ST Category.
ii. The Application Processing Fee paid shall neither be refunded nor transferred to another course and shall also not be reserved for any subsequent year, in any case.
